The Charlotte Chapter of Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society honors top undergraduate research scientists from regional colleges and universities.
This year the award goes to a student whose interest in immunology was sparked early by the Evolution of Host-Pathogen Interaction class, blossomed into two years of independent research on Cd4 gene transcriptional regulation at Davidson, and culminated in an honors thesis defense. During this process he has developed into a well-rounded, highly independent, and collaborative scholar with significant accomplishments, which are included in a manuscript under review for publication and have been recognized with the Ray Owen Poster Award by the American Association of Immunologists. He will continue his research as an IRTA (Intramural Research Training Award) fellow at the NIH in the laboratory of Dr. Alfred Singer while preparing to apply for MD/PhD programs. For his love of research, incredible creativity, and extremely high standards, we are pleased to name the recipient of the 2024 Sigma Xi Undergraduate Research Award, Sheridan Page.
